Job Description: 
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Legislative Analysis intern will assist Budget and Planning Division staff and management with duties related to the 89th Texas Legislative Session beginning January 2025. The intern will complete administrative duties related to the analysis of fiscal impacts of legislation on agency functions and complete other duties as assigned. This will be a great opportunity to learn about governmental programs, develop program analysis skills and become familiar with legislative processes. Qualified candidates will have a desire to learn more about the TCEQ programs and environmental regulation through an agency perspective, and will have an ability to work from January 13 through May 23. This is a remote, part-time (20 hours per week) position. Major responsibilities include: 1. Assist in analyzing the fiscal impacts of proposed legislation on agency functions 2. Support the Strategic Planning Analyst and Deputy Director in various administrative tasks 3. Navigate and track legislation on the Texas Legislature Online website 4. Summarize and assess the impact of legislation on agency operations 5. Maintain and organize electronic files and documentation Preferred qualification include: 1. A major in public policy, environmental study, or similar 2. Knowledge of state and/or federal environmental regulations 3. A basic knowledge of the Texas Legislature 4. Attention to detail and excellent organizational and communication skills 5. Experience in an administrative assistant/customer service capacity 6. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams
