Job Description: 
The office of State Representative Christina Morales is seeking an intern for the District Office to be based in Houston, TX for the Summer of 2023. The ideal candidate is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program/recently graduated with an interest and education background in public policy, government, or communications. Internships are for approximately 15-20 hours per week. The position can be expanded to full-time if requested by the intern and we can provide internship verification for any degree requirements. Note: this is an unpaid position. Duties: ·       Monitor and respond to House District 145 emails ·       Coordinate the Representative’s schedule and respond to scheduling requests ·       Handle constituent correspondence, calls, and case work ·       Draft constituent communications ·       Request and review drafts of resolutions for community events ·       Assist with district social media ·       Events as needed/available ·       Provide assistance to the district director in daily duties and as assigned Ideal Candidate: The preferred candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, be familiar with or live in House District 145, and have an interest in State Government. They must be comfortable with handling constituent communications and be detail oriented. The candidate must also have a strong work ethic and be punctual. The ideal intern would have some knowledge of the workings of state government and be able to attend events as needed. This is an excellent position for someone looking for experience working in government or with an interest in communications and the Houston community.
