We are seeking a highly motivated, bright, and hardworking individual for an internship in the Capitol Office of State Representative Celia Israel during the 87th Legislative Session, until the end of May 2021. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience with policymaking, communications, and constituent services during the legislative session. The Aide is expected to make a time commitment of 15-20 hours per week and will work remotely as well as in-office when needed. The Aide will perform a range of tasks, including social media postings; creating infographics; assisting with communication strategies; bill analysis; data entry; and corresponding with constituents. This is an ideal position for someone aiming for a career in media relations, political campaigns, advocacy, or digital marketing with a focus on public policy. (Mandatory Qualifications) Successful candidates will: • have previous work experience; • have proven oral and written communication skills; • have knowledge of social media analytics; • have a working knowledge of the Texas Legislature; • have reliable Internet connection and access to Zoom and other videoconferencing apps; • be deadline focused; • be able to work effectively with diverse populations; • be able to work effectively with representatives from government agencies, legislative offices, and advocacy organizations; • possess intellectual curiosity and an interest in learning complex policy issues; and • possess problem-solving skills.
