Overview: The Office of State Representative Gina Hinojosa seeks a professional and motivated intern to support the team during the 2023 Fall Semester. A special session on vouchers is expected during the duration of this internship. This position will report directly to the Chief of Staff, but the candidate will work in all areas of the office, including constituent services, policy, administrative management, etc. This position will take place in person during the 2023 Fall Semester (approximately September to December) and requires a time commitment of approximately 20 hours per week (part-time). Depending on the potential for a special session, this position may require long nights and weekends beyond 20 hours per week. Responsibilities: • Onboarding constituent correspondence, as well as drafting and sending responses • Assisting senior staff with relevant casework, by serving as a liaison between the office, state agencies, and stakeholders • Attending meetings on certain policy areas and developing briefing memos • Conducting general office duties and other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to answering phones, greeting office guests, etc. Required Qualifications • Passion for issues and policies supported by Rep. Hinojosa, such as public education, environmental justice, voting rights, healthcare, and workforce development • Strong written and oral communication skills • Ability to communicate with professionalism, clarity, and timeliness with the offices of other elected officials, constituents, and all who engage with the office • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with thoroughness and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications: • Received or working towards a degree in a relevant field • Bilingual in English/Spanish
