89th Tx Legislature Full-Time Paid Internship

State Representative-Elect Trey Wharton (HD 12) is seeking a full-time intern for the upcoming legislative session. Applicants must be highly motivated, friendly, and team-oriented. Start date: Tuesday, January 14, 2025 End date: Monday, June 2, 2025 Starting salary: $1000/month, may be eligible for class credit Duties to include: -Assist Legislative Director (LD) with Legislative Draft Requests -Analyze legislation as directed by LD -Monitor legislative developments (member's and topics of interest) within committees and House and Senate floor proceedings -Utilize in-house tracking applications -Create Talking Points for lay-out in committees and on floor at LD's direction -Assist LD with gathering, gauging, and coordinating support on member's legislation -Meeting with other members' offices at LD's direction -Securing committee witnesses at LD's direction -Meeting with various groups, and others who enter Capitol office without an appointment -Capitol office scheduling -Collects, organizes, and stores invitations -Provides immediate assistance as needed -Answers office phone in absence of Legislative Intern
